an account with a booking in progress cannot be deleted.
When you delete your account, the information about your space and its listings
is removed from the platform.
Depending on the regulations of your country and of the country of your space, this data
is then retained according to those rules.
Managing Listings
The price of the reception is set per day for the space, for the whole group, whatever the number of visitors up to the capacity of the listing. Drinks, snacks and meals are counted per person and per day.
Example: a balcony at €1,000 per day, 3 visitors, 1 day and drinks at €10 per person and per day: €1,000 + 3 × €10 = €1,030, plus the Canopy Festy service fees and their VAT.
The listings that match your search (event, country, city) are shown in alphabetical order of their title. No host can pay to appear higher, and Canopy Festy does not promote any listing in return for payment.
When registering, each host declares whether they act as a professional or as a private individual. The "Pro" mention shows a professional host; otherwise, the listing says "Private host".
- Professional host: your consumer rights apply to your contract with the host.
- Private host: the consumer rights stemming from European Union law do not apply to your contract with the host. Your contract with Canopy Festy (booking, payment, cancellation) remains covered, as provided in the Terms and conditions.
On the listing page, choose "Report this listing": give the reason, what is wrong and your e-mail address. Your report is sent to the Canopy Festy team, who examine it; the listing is not withdrawn automatically. You receive an acknowledgement, then our decision.
Hosts: if your listing is withdrawn from sale following a report, you receive by e-mail the facts and the grounds of the decision, and you can contest it by replying to that message.
To publish an event and a space, create an account or log in. On the My Account page, click the "Creation Event" button and fill in the required information, in particular the information you want to share with Visitors.
Any event is eligible as long as your space offers a view of it.
If your space has special features,
the platform lets you create your own events: select the 'Private' reception type.
Add the details of your event in the Information fields.
Your space must offer a full, privileged view of an event, and have enough room for the recommended number of people.
To create an event and a space, create an account or log in. On the My Account page, click the "Creation Event" button and fill in the required information, in particular the information you want to share with Visitors.
You can change the details of your events on the My Account page, by clicking the title of the event to open it.
A listing can only be edited or deleted if it has no booking in progress. If needed, you can create a new listing with your new criteria, then delete the current one once its booked dates have passed.
Your space must meet all the applicable standards for the safety
of the people you wish to welcome. Make sure of this before
you decide to create a listing.
Have your installation checked, in particular balconies, and make sure
your interior is suitable for welcoming Visitors.
If an inspection body has checked the structure of your space (railings, load), whatever its type (balcony, terrace, rooftop…), give the date of its report in your listing, « Safety and authorisations » section. The « Structure inspected » mention is then shown on your listing for one year, and a reminder is sent to you one month before it ends. This inspection is voluntary and declared under your sole responsibility: Canopy Festy does not check the documents.
You welcome your Visitors yourself and remain responsible for their safety. Before publishing and before each welcome, check:
- the soundness of the structure (balcony, terrace, rooftop) and the good condition of the railings and fall protections;
- a number of people suited to the area and to the length of the railings;
- clear access and exits, without furniture or objects in the way;
- no temporary installation (stage, tent, stands) without authorisation.
We recommend following the measures applied by the State of Monaco during the Grands Prix, even where they are not mandatory: have the structure inspected by an approved inspection body before the Event, welcome no more than two people per metre of railing with a view of the Event, ask for authorisation for any demountable structure. The rules of your building and of your city always prevail when they are stricter. After an inspection by an inspection body, you can give its date in your listing: the « Structure inspected » mention is shown for one year. Canopy Festy does not check these measures, which are your sole responsibility (Terms and conditions, Host's obligations, « Safety of people »).
In Monaco, welcoming people on a balcony, loggia or terrace with a view of the circuit of a Grand Prix requires the
authorisation of the Public Security Department and of the Automobile Club de Monaco, requested online at least
30 days before the Event, with an inspection of the structure by a body approved in the Principality. Owners,
tenants and other rightful holders can apply; the balcony, loggia or terrace must be defined as such in the lease
or the title deed and be in good condition. The capacity is two people per metre of railing with a view, and your
Visitors must hold the passes of the Automobile Club de Monaco, which you collect at Square Gastaud after the
confirmation e-mail and give them. Documents, steps and contact:
Monaco rules for the Grands Prix.
On Canopy Festy, to publish a listing in Monaco, you check the box by which you undertake to comply with these
rules, under your sole responsibility: Canopy Festy checks neither the authorisations nor the documents.
The official procedure is described on
MonServicePublic.
Open the My Account page and click the event you want to change,
then select or deselect the services of your choice.
Changes are possible as long as the listing has no booking in progress.
If the listing has a booking, create a new listing instead.
Canopy Festy recommends to Hosts caterers selected for the quality of their services, their reliability and their compliance with hygiene rules and allergen information. These caterers undertake with the site to respect the drinks and meals sheet: the content of the services, the choices, diets and allergies declared by the Visitor, and the booking deadlines. When you work with one of them, your listing shows the mention « Canopy Festy partner caterer »: a mark of trust for Visitors, who know that their meals will be prepared by a committed professional. The caterer's name is not shown to Visitors: you remain their contact and the person responsible for the reception. To find out about the recommended caterers in your city, contact Canopy Festy. Their commitments are set out in the partner caterers charter.
The Visitor's choices (drinks, composition of the meal, service, diets and allergies) appear on the order page and in its summary; they form part of the contract. The Visitor can change them until 15 days before the Event: you are then notified by email. Pass this information on to your caterer, without the Visitor's contact details. In your listing you set the price and quantity of each service, and who prepares the meals.
Bookings and Orders
The My Account page shows your Bookings and your published Events.
To open a booking, click its title.
From there, you can communicate with the Visitor,
and see the Visitor's details and what they have ordered.
The My Account page shows the Orders you have placed.
To open an Order, click its title.
From there, you can communicate with the Host,
and see the Host's details and what you have ordered.
Around major Events (Grand Prix, fireworks, carnivals…), the authorities often set up security checkpoints.
Once your booking is fully paid (balance 7 days before the Event), the page of your order shows the full address of
the reception and your access pass (PDF), also available from My Account. Show it with an identity document: the
staff can check its validity by scanning its QR code. You can add the names of the people coming with you until
2 days before the Event.
This pass does not replace any authorisation required by the authorities: some perimeters also require a signed
certificate from the resident. Ask your Host for it through the messaging, before the Event.
The access pass is shown at the security checkpoints, with an identity document. The validation code (QR code and 6-digit code) is only given to your Host, on site, once you have checked the reception and the view: it confirms that the reception matches the listing.
If your space is inside a security perimeter, ask your town hall or the local authorities about the access rules:
resident pass, list of names, signed invitation certificate…
Canopy Festy gives your Visitors an access pass with the address and their names once the booking is fully paid,
but it does not replace these authorisations. If a certificate from you is required, send it to your Visitors
through the messaging before the Event: the names of the people coming with them are on the page of the
booking.
Cancellations
As a Visitor, you can cancel your booking on the My Account page by clicking your order. Depending on the booking date and the Platform's Cancellation Conditions, you will be shown a breakdown of the refund.
As a Host, you can cancel your listing on the My Account page.
Note, however, that this is only possible when the listing has no
booking.
If you have no choice but to cancel, please refer to the terms and conditions
and follow the platform's rules.
Validation of the reception (QR code)
After payment, you receive by e-mail, and on the page of your order, a QR code and a 6-digit code. On the first day, when you arrive, check the reception and above all the view. If you agree with it, show your QR code to the host, who scans it with their phone, or give them your code: the contract between you is validated.
Do not show your code and report the problem the same day, from the page of your order. The host can do the same, for example if the number of people exceeds the booking. A report puts the payout to the host on hold until Canopy Festy decides. After validation, a setback is to be settled between you, through the messaging of the site.
Without validation or report, the booking is considered validated 48 hours after the end of the event. If the visitor does not come, except in a case of force majeure provided for by law, the penalty is total, as for a cancellation on the day of the event.
Fees, VAT and summary
Yes, according to the country where the reception space is located and the status of the person paying them. For a space located in the European Union, Canopy Festy's service fees, on the Visitor's side as on the Host's side, bear the VAT of that country for an individual. A business whose VAT number is confirmed by the European VIES service pays no VAT on these fees: it accounts for it itself (reverse charge). For a space located outside the European Union, no European VAT is applied. The VAT is shown on a separate line, with the amount it applies to. The amount set by the Host is not subject to Canopy Festy's VAT.
Tick this box, in your account, only if you are subject to VAT on your service. The VAT is then calculated on
the amount of your service (Reception and Services), at the rate of the country of your address; the Visitor
pays it in addition to the price and it is paid to you with your payout. It is your responsibility to check
this rate and to declare this VAT to the tax authorities of your country.
If the box is left unticked, no VAT is applied to your service.
Some Hosts are subject to VAT on their service. In that case, the listing page says so, and the Host's VAT appears on a separate line before payment and on your order. If you cancel, the part corresponding to the refunded amount is returned to you.
Once the Event has taken place, and if the order has not been cancelled, a PDF summary is available on the order page and in your account, for the Visitor as for the Host. It is a payment summary: it is not an invoice.
