Cancelling a reservation: how is your refund calculated?
On Canopy Festy, a single cancellation rule applies to all listings. It is the same for all Hosts, who cannot change it.
Until when can I cancel?
You can cancel from your order page, until the start of the Event. The later you cancel, the higher the penalty. The period is counted in days before the first date of the reserved Event.
Which amount does the penalty apply to?
Only the Host's price, excluding taxes: the Reception and the Services you have chosen.
- The deposit paid on booking commits you, as it does the Host: it is never refunded.
- Without meals, the general scale applies, with at least the deposit (10 % of the Host's price).
- With meals, prepared in advance for you, the whole booking follows its own scale, from 30 %.
- The penalty is set against what you have already paid: any excess is refunded to you; if it does not cover it, the remainder is charged to your card.
The percentages are shown in the tables on the Cancellation conditions page.
Is there a minimum?
Yes. As soon as a penalty applies, it is at least 50 in the currency of your order, without ever exceeding the Host's price.
Are the service fees refunded?
No. Canopy Festy's service fees pay for the services already provided (reservation, secure payment, messaging with the Host). They are paid with the deposit and remain due.
What about taxes?
Canopy Festy's VAT applies only to its service fees, which are not refunded: this VAT is not refunded either. If the Host charges VAT on their service, the part corresponding to the refunded amount is returned to you; the part corresponding to the penalty goes to the Host.
When will I be refunded?
The refund is issued 7 days after your cancellation, to your payments (deposit and instalments). It then appears on your account according to your bank's processing times, usually within 5 to 10 working days. You can follow its progress and details from your Visitor account and your order page.
What about the Host?
The Host receives the penalty, less their service fees and the VAT on those fees. If you cancel without a penalty, the Host receives nothing.
Force majeure
Force majeure is defined and governed by law. In the event of force majeure, the law of the country where the Reception is located applies, including for the way the request is to be made.
